Akumel, Mexico

Mexico isn’t just drug deals and shootings.  At the risk of turning a beautiful little village into a swamp of tourists, here are some pictures of Akumel, on the Yucatan peninsula.  It’s south of Cancun on the way to the Mayan ruins at Tulum.  It was one of the first places Spanish tourists came to in the 16th century, but now it’s kinda lost in the Mayan Riviera.  If you like it, don’t tell anybody.

  1. Can’t quite believe you’ve posted this today, Bill.
I just found out our November holiday is going to be Playa del Carmen near Cancun.
    Thank-you.
    Anne.
